Seasonal Shift

I've heard an awful lot of complaining about Daylight Savings time this year, and I can't understand why. Sure, it's a little darker in the mornings (but I don't wake up that early anyway, so no problem there) and of course I don't like being robbed of an extra hour of sleep, but I was back to normal by Tuesday, so that doesn't seem like a big deal either.

The trade off for the minor inconvenience is a whole extra hour of sunlight in the evening! Why would anyone consider that to be a bad thing? That later sunset gives me a whole new lease on evenings, I no longer want to be in pajamas by six p.m., I might actually want to go out and do something. Furthermore, come July, if the latest the sun set were 7:30, wouldn't that be awfully upsetting? Don't we all live for those long summer days? Just me? Fine.

Meanwhile, I'm ready to shed my winter blacks and pull out all the white. Yes, I wore white jeans in California, but the white handbag has just come out of hibernation and I couldn't be happier.

  1. I will never understand all the fuss people make about the time change. Yes, losing an hour sucks - but it really only sucks on the one night that it happens. After that, you adjust. Life goes on. I guess everyone's internal clock is different, but mine is pretty finely tuned and for me, by the next day, it's like the time change didn't happen, except that the sun is still blinding me through my windows when I sit down to eat dinner around 6 pm. And I am totally okay with that. On a related note, can we talk about how spring-like these photos look? I'm so envious of the total lack of snow on the ground and the fact that you don't have a coat on. We tried going outside to take photos last Friday and I lasted all of five minutes. I suspect it was still cold taking these photos, but you make it look warm and lovely and like better weather might actually come soon. Here's hoping!

  2. Besides, it's silly to complain. How is that going to help?? It is what it is, and so look at the positive aspects.
Or at least dress cute, like you always do!! That's the answer for everything in my book..ha ha

  3. You will NEVER hear me complaining about springing forward. A loss of an hour is the tiniest price to pay for more sunlight. This top is lovely, I love the fringe detail!

  4. I agree, I much prefer it to be dark when I wake up and lighter later in the day. In the morning you're all groggy and sleepy anyway so who cares if it stays dark an hour longer, haha.
    Always love that sweater!

  5. I never get too fussed about daily savings time changes but my big complaint is that it screws up Eleanor's sleep cycle and I experience a few days of her staying up later than normal and being cranky and tired the next day - but the extra light makes up for it.

  8. That a fun top! I love the fringe and I like the matchy-matchy with the white jeans and bag together. I always wanted the Perry bag but my friend had quality issues with hers which put me off it a bit! I keep scouring ebay to see if I can find a cute second hand one instead ;)

We don't have daylight savings so it always gets dark in the evenings here but I don't mind, as I'm more of a morning person anyway!

Hope your week is going well :)

My sleep schedule has been off since Daylight Savings. I'm trying to get back on track!

  11. I have been so happy since Daylight Savings! That extra sun in the evening has been so wonderful because it means that after I come home from work and then work on our downstairs unit, I can come back upstairs and it's still light enough for me to sit in my office or on the couch and enjoy some SUN! I hadn't realized how much I needed it but now I'm looking forward to long summer days! whohoo!

  13. I love the daylight later in the evenings! It is a little tough for kids to adjust though. I wonder if they will ever completely do away with it just for ease. Those white jeans are so nice with your fun sweater! Great way to ease back into spring!

  14. We don't have daylight savings, I remember the first time I came across it living in Germany. I was in total awe.
White shoes and handbags are always an issue for me, the nurse syndrome taker over. I love seeing it work on others though.

  18. I'm loving the white and the adorable fringe on that sweater! I am ALL about the extra sunlight, but I have to admit the time change put me in a funk for a few days—over it now and stoked for the light evenings.

  20. Time of the year when trees regain their colors and flowers bloom while the birds are chirping in the cool and perfect weather. Spring fashion is all about bright colors and tons of accessories.

  21. This fringe sweater is so cute!! I'm all about the extra daylight but it's been so hard to wake up for work when it's pitch black outside!
