Summer Sales

Another beautiful and hot July weekend is ending. I took advantage of the side walk sales in town on Saturday. The sale I was looking forward to the most was the buy one, get one free sale at Shoetique - but I sadly left empty handed.

I made up for it in the next store, but with jewelry, rather than shoes -- I love $5 accessories!

new funky jewerly

I liked the beaded bracelet as I don't have anything like it -- same for the earrings. The gold ones are layered bits of leather, and the others are glitter infused plastic beads. I love funky earrings!

For my day of shopping I donned the poppy dress and my new necklace.

Poppies

The straps on this dress were too long, and I was getting really awful under arm gaping, so I shortened each an inch and a half.

poppy fix

I normally wouldn't buy a dress with thin straps like these. I thought I might replace them, or layer it, but I decided to give a bandeau style bra a try. Support is VERY minimal - but as far as comfort on a hot summer day, I decided I could get away with it.

poppy close

My other acquisition was a (horizontal) striped dress. It's by Free People and was $68 marked down to $15.

new dress

I also did laundry (very exciting, I know) and I thought it would be fun to photograph the new dress hanging with all the other clothes.

Laundry

After a long day of shopping, we stopped for ice cream. I had chocolate, of course!

(I'm a little sad the front facing camera on the iPhone isn't the same quality as the main camera)

  3. Your necklace looks sort of like little waves in an ocean but better. :'D I love it, and it goes perfect with your dress! That was the same dress I almost bought there, hehee. I regrets not getting it now, oh welll, it looks better on you anyway. ;D

  4. Thanks for turning off the word verification! I also hate it! That dress is very nice on you and I really like the pop of color from your necklace, makes the outfit so fun and great for the summer. Your comment about making the little kid cry when you ruined his name made me smile, children are like that, very peculiar about certain things including their names, that's why it's frustrating when kids come to school and know how to write their names..all in capitals! Very hard to get them away from that! =D

  21. This dress is totally fabulous, love the color, the print and the silhuette, and it goes great with the blue necklace! Also, love all the accessories, just trying to figure out that flower on the bag on the last picture - was it part of the design or did it become one later? In any case, looks great, on its own and with the rest of the look:)

  34. You hang your clothes to dry? I haven't done that since I was a kid! It really does save a ton of money. Do your clothes get lightened by the sun, though? I may have to avoid it if it does that. Otherwise, it's a great idea for saving money!

    Cool accessories!

  38. I just love that Kohl's dress on you! I tried it on before my Cali trip, hoping to add it to my suitcase. Then I hesitated and went back the next day to pick it up. It was sold out in my size. Grrr.

Love it paired with the turquoise necklace - and the ice cream cone!
