Does anyone else feel like they've barely made a dent in getting all their summer favorites worn? I still have quite a few dresses and pairs of shorts that haven't made it out of the closet yet, and a pair of sandals I bought last October, packed away, forgot about, and just found. Oops.

Scalloped shorts

I will be the first to admit I was a bit premature in the wearing of these shorts, but the sun was out, it was 70° (for a minute or two), and having received them as a birthday gift, I was quite anxious to wear them.

The shorts are from Loft and the sizing is ridiculous. I got them in a size four and had to exchange them for a two, though admittedly, even the twos are a little large. I'm not sure what is going on at Loft, but I am not a zero. I'm okay with that. I don't need a number to make me feel better about myself and these sizing games just make shopping a lot harder!

I'm certainly looking forward to this weekend, and more beautiful weather - now if only the bitter wind would offer a reprieve.

Scallops and Stripes

It is my unofficial goal to better utilize these shorts this summer. Perhaps it should be my goal to better utilize my entire closet, and it is most definitely time for another clean out. Never mind the fact that after my clean out last November it took a solid five months of driving around with a giant rubbermaid bin full of clothes in the trunk of my car before I finally donated/consigned all of them.

And I think the sad part is, all the money I made from cosigning, I spent right then and there! Even worse, is that I haven't even worn seven of the things I bought. Seven is a big number, and I didn't even think it was that many until I just now looked, counted, and grimaced. All of the purchases were between $1 and $5 so of course I thought nothing of them at the time. But now, I either need to wear them, or they need to go right back from where they came!

Together at last

I purchased this scalloped hem blazer and these matching shorts three years ago at H&M, and while I've worn them plenty of times separately, this is the first time I've ever worn them together.

I kind of love that the scalloped hem trend is still just as big (if not bigger) today than it was three years ago. Back then I had to go to NYC and traipse around to three different H&M locations (actually not a huge deal in NYC since there is pretty much one on every street corner) before I found the shorts. They were even a size too big and I had to take them in. Now, not only can you shop H&M online, but scalloped shorts are pretty abundant in every color and print.

Scalloped hems again

I typically have mixed feelings about pairing heels with shorts. In my mind, if you are going to do a heel, it should be along the lines of a chunky sandal or a wedge, maybe a bootie, but never a stiletto.

Perhaps it is because these shorts are a loose fitting chiffon, perhaps it is because the pumps are peep-toe, or perhaps it is just that I like to break my own rules, I'm wearing pumps with shorts.
