I'm not sure how we wound up in the middle of July, but over the weekend I got together with Meg, as it had been ages since we grabbed lunch and caught up. This time her fiancée came with us to take outfit photos, so we got a few together as well!

Smile like you mean it

Last week Sean and I went to see The Killers at Mohegan Sun, even though it was a weeknight (I'm an old lady) we had a great time. We decided to forgo the opening act in favor of grabbing dinner at Hash House a Go Go, which was like fried chicken heaven. Somehow we still ended up in a mad dash to get to the arena on time, but we just squeaked in before the first song was underway.
The show was great, I loved the set list, and our seats were close enough that every one on stage was bigger than a little speck. Naturally I would not have worn these heels had it been standing room only, but clearly they were meant to be worn with this dress. And since a random stranger complimented me on them, it made their maiden voyage all the better.
One other small accessory I had for the night was a pair of etymotic ear plugs. Again, you know I'm an old lady, and tinnitus for days is not something I enjoy. I know rock concerts are meant to be loud and I agree, that's part of the experience, but once the earplugs are in, I barely even feel like anything is missing, it's just a more reasonable volume. Let the ears of the youth ring; I'd much rather sleep soundly after I rock out.

Cut it out
Monday, August 24, 2015
I feel that I've been a lot braver this summer; showing more skin than I normally do, and while a cutout dress may have previously fallen outside my comfort zone, the strategically removed fabric on this dress from Zinke did not leave me feeling overexposed.
The higher neckline compensates for the vanishing back, while the fuller skirt keeps my waistline looking tiny. And let's not forget that it has pockets, the one thing you can count on to make any girl love pretty much any dress.
I actually got to pick this dress out from Zinke at the RewardStyle fashion week party nearly a year ago. It was shipped to me in December, which meant it would be another six months before I could actually wear it, and in the interim Zinke shut down their site. So this dress is no longer available, however if you love the print, you can still get it in an adorable crop top and shorts set.
