Let go of holiday stress at The Red Door

With the holidays fast approaching the the to-do lists only getting longer the stress starts to mount. Finish shopping, bake cookies, get the gifts wrapped, get my holiday posts done; and the more overwhelmed I feel the less likely I am to just enjoy the holiday season.

But with weekend hours at a premium, when The Red Door invited me to take some time out and receive their Signature Massage, I decided that taking a mental and physical break from my holiday prep might be just what I needed.

From the moment I entered The Red Door Salon & Spa I felt pampered. I changed into one of their soft robes and turned off my phone. I flipped through a magazine in the relaxation room and cleared my mind while I waited for my technician, Zayda. When she arrived and showed me to my private room, she answered all my questions, as it was my first ever massage, and I hope not my last. The Signature Massage is a Swedish massage that incorporates foot reflexology and a facial massage. At no point did I ever feel uncomfortable, and Zayda did ask me a couple times if the pressure was okay. One of my favorite parts of the service was having a scalp massage, and while I was assuming afterwards my hair would be a wild mess, my curls still looked perfect - such skill!

When my massage was over, I decided to take advantage of the fully equipped showers so I didn't get the massage oil all over my clothes. The showers are super clean, have body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in them, and the locker room has a hair dryer, along with anything else you might need - razors, shaving cream, body lotion, deodorant.

I was so happy I could leave feeling relaxed, completely refreshed, and ready to get back to my day. But not really ready, honestly I wished I were having an entire day at the spa; The Red Door is top notch. If you need a little respite from the holiday prep, I would highly recommend a service at the Red Door, or if you are still searching for the perfect gift, they also offer gift cards with a promotion running right now to get up to $100 for yourself when you purchase a gift card. If that isn't proper motivation, I don't know what is!

  4. Getting a massage is honestly my favourite thing and one it's been far too long since I've indulged in. Before we moved I had a massage therapist I saw once a month, but now she's far away and no one nearby is taking on clients. I may just have to turn to a spa, which really wouldn't be such a bad thing - the way you describe it, your experience at The Red Door sounds like bliss!

  5. Woohoo for massages! I loved when I got a massage there over the summer. So relaxing! Although I like leaving the oils on my skin, hha. I'm weird like that ;)
