What's old is new is old again

Never one to resist a great deal, I picked up this J.Crew Factory silk tank for $9 at Coco's on the Green. It was in perfect condition, and while pink isn't normally a color I gravitate to, I thought it would still be a good pick up.

The first time I wore it, I decided the sequined aztec clutch would be the perfect compliment, and unlike those times when I preform a little outfit photo accessory swap, I did indeed carry this bag all day.

Unfortunately, I discovered walking around with a sequin clutch tucked under my arm to be a poor choice, as the sequins rubbing against the tank resulted in dozens of tiny pulls in the fabric.

It might not be super noticeable, but it kills me that I essentially ruined a top the first time I wore it, even if it did only cost $9.

  1. This pink is a wonderful color for you. Your Aztec clutch is darling. The damage on the top is certainly not noticeable. :)

  3. Sequins are dangerous! I learned the same thing the hard way years ago with a sequinned skirt and my favourite sweater - the skirt, which luckily still had tags on, went immediately back to the store but the sweater was never really the same. With that said, lucky the tiny pulls are on the side of your tank and shouldn't be too noticeable, because it is a beautiful colour on you and a silk tank that cost only $9 deserves to be worn often and celebrated.

  6. Aw yes. The only downfall of sequins. I had a similar problem the other day but I cannot remember what was going on. I just remember getting annoyed with my sequins pulling on a fabric. Darn it! Cute outfit though nonetheless.

  7. I don't wear much pink either, but the tank is really pretty and the pulls don't seem noticeable at all!

  8. Isn't it the most uncomfortable feeling being mad at yourself when you think you should've known to avoid it?

  9. Pink looks beautiful on you and I do love your clutch. It doesn't matter that it only cost $9. I would be devastated if something happened to a great top the first time I wore it too.

  10. I LOVE it with the clutch! Such a shame that it rubbed the fabric the wrong way :( Hate when that happens!

  12. I so understand your pain. Such a wonderful top and what a bargain. The bright side is that it's not so visible, so you can wear it again. I love sequins and I learned some lesson too.

  14. Oh no! Hopefully the tiny snags aren't too noticeable. That top is super beautiful, though, and yay you for trying new exciting colors! Bright pink does you very well. :)

  15. Aww no what a shame that you snagged the tank! It looks great on you, and was such a bargain! That bright colour is lovely and the sequin clutch is a great accessory, even if it didn't play nice with the tank!

  20. You are looking so pretty in pink! And I've totally done things like that before...having bags or my jewelry rub off and ruin something!

  22. I hate it when a new piece of clothing gets stained or messed up the first time I wear it! You can't tell from the pictures though. And the sequin clutch does go perfectly with this top. Hopefully you can still wear it!

  23. Ahhh...such life lessons. But it is true---it's definitely not noticeable. Especially if you wear the tank under a jacket or cardi. Pink does look great on you! jodie
