Top Knot

I followed a tutorial on Refinery 29 to create this huge bun - which pretty much just consists of putting your hair into a high pony tail, back combing the heck out of it and bobby pinning it into a bun. You are also supposed to load it up with hair spray, but I omitted that step since I wanted to be able to get my hair back to normal if things didn't go well.

  6. Your hair looks nice! I may have to try that tutorial.

And, as usual, I'm very impressed that you made that skirt! Sewing pleats into clothes has always been beyond my skill level.

  10. cute hairdo. I've tried to create this look with my own hair and failed miserably. I think its just too thin or I'm just terrible at doing my own hair.

  21. Awe, your hair bun is so pretty! I, too, fear spraying my hair when experimenting with hairstyles for that reason exactly. The "what if" factor, ohoho. That bun seems like an awesome way to keep hair out of the way though.

Gold, royal blue, and red. Oh yes, this is a fantastic combination indeed. I love how you added in the mint, too.

  27. love the way the bun turned out! I usually use a bun maker sponge I bought from ebay for about a $1 and it gives the same effect. Love the stripe clutch with the printed skirt, it's very chic and trendy :)

  46. Well it looks like your top knot came out great!! It's so funny that when you have super long hair like we do, some of the hairdos for long hair just don't come out as great. I can't do the sock bun thing because it looks like I have a frisbee on my head!

That skirt is absolutely divine, love the print!

  52. This skirt looks very very classy with a similarly colored shirt and the gold jewelry! Sometimes I wish I had hair that was long enough for a big bun, but I think I look so Asian with my hair like that, so I probably wouldn't do it anyway... yeah I'm probably just being ridiculous. Have you ever tried the sock bun? That one's pretty popular, though I don't exactly know how it works.
