Shopping at Fashionista Vintage and Variety

I had heard, many months ago about a wonderful vintage shop in New Haven, CT called Fashionista Vintage and Variety. I really wanted to check it out, and the first time I went, they were closed due to relocation. The second time was on a Sunday, and again, closed. I finally made it there today, and I'm glad I went!

The shop was overflowing with adorable vintage (and some new) items - three large rooms with dresses, bags, shoes, coats, jewelry...

There were so many things I wanted to try on! My only disappointment was that many of the vintage dresses were tiny! Teeny waists, minuscule busts -- what's a curvy girl to do?

I really loved this houndstooth dress, but I look a bit... vacuum sealed...

Nevertheless, I was still really impressed with the huge inventory and there were plenty of accessories and shoes I could have gotten. I also loved that each and every price tag featured a full description of the item, including the decade of origin and even some styling suggestions!

One of the perils of shopping in New Haven was having to park at a meter with a one hour limit! I felt like as soon as I got there I had to dash off again.

But the store has such a fun vibe, even a pile of free stuff on a table outside the door; and you can have after hours cocktail and dress-up parties there. I'd love that.

As for me:
Lace

Best part about this outfit: While I was shopping a girl said she loved my look and asked if she could feature me on the blog of Messes of Dresses, which is an online shop with cute dresses for under $100!

  15. I have the same problem when shopping vintage: I've got hips/boobs/booty and so I often look vacuum sealed in some things. When I find a fabulous vintage dress...I pounce on it.

Messes of Dresses: I was on Facebook two days ago, and an ad came up suggesting that I become a fan of MOD!

That's so cool that they will be featuring you!
