Second chance denim

I bought this pair of jeans nine years ago. I just had to count that on my fingers twice and I still don't really believe it's been that long. In the five and a half years I've been blogging, they have appeared eight times (not very impressive for denim). This was due to the fact that they just had the strangest cut. It wasn't working for me and I knew it, so I tried cuffing them, but mostly they were just taking up closet space.

Just before I was finally going to cart them off to the thrift store, I wondered if perhaps they could be saved. I really liked the fit in the waist, they are skinny through the thighs, so why not just remove the bulky awkward boot cut and skinnify them?

Brilliant, no?

  4. Wow! The turned out so well!! I always wonder if I should try skinnifying some pants, but haven't gotten around to it yet. You did a great job!

  5. That is impressive! I have jeans like that too and you are like me in that I notice you don't wear jeans very often (well, regular blue jeans anyway) so that justifies the lack of blog love for them. But they look great skinnified! I love the navy and camel together too!

  10. I love your attitude - if a piece of clothing isn't working for me, nine times out of ten I just get rid of it. The fact that you made these jeans work is so inspiring to me. Plus... without the bootcut, the fit is amazing! And paired with navy, brown, gold and leopard (!!), they couldn't be more perfect.

  11. Good Job. Someone once said that a good tailor is better than having expensive duds that don't fit.

  17. I admire your resolve. I don't really like jeans as it is and would never put that kind of effort in to give them new life. I'd rather just toss them and put on a skirt.
