I did have a few requirements for the cutoffs however.
First: No Pockets Showing Below Hemlines.
Second: No Spending More Than a Couple Dollars.
Third: Must Be A Classic Brand.
Done, done and done. I found these Levi's in my size at the thrift store for a mere dollar, and did the cutting myself to insure I got the length I wanted. After a few decidedly unsymmetrical snips, I threw these bad boys in the wash with a load of towels and they came out fraying appropriately.
For my styling, the scalloped hem blazer felt like a great contrasting piece (since it is just so darn lady-like) and more of my favorite bracelets, and heels. I have no desire to look like a teenager in my fraying clothing. (Not that I ever wore fraying clothing when I was a teenager, I turned my nose up at the whole ripped denim trend.)

I'd have to say that your cut-offs turned out perfectly. And no one owns the copyright on cut-offs so I would not worry about that.
your cardi is sooo cute!!!!! love it :) cute dog too :)

I just love the scalloped hem blazer...so cute!!
That bracelet it amazing! love ur style!! newest follower ;)
I was a big fan of denim cut-offs the first time around, so I was really happy when I noticed people wearing them again.
I love them with the blazer and sandals. You make frayed denim look smart.
Your DIY cut-offs turned out so well! I love their color and the length is just right :) I really like your idea of pairing it with your scalloped edge blazer to give it a more grown-up feel.
star-crossed smile
Well done! They look great and $1 hand crafted denim shorts are always going to be a win...doubly so when they're paired with such an awesome blazer.

Your self-made cutoffs turned out fantastic, girl! And how cute is that scalloped blazer and your puppy?!

there's nothing wrong with wearing cut offs :) i find they're always way cooler when you diy. your arm candy is equally as rad.
LOVE this! They came out so perfect :D And I know what you mean...sometimes I think the same things about the way I dress

I just found your blog and am so happy I did! I think it's a complete fallacy that you have to wear designer clothing to look like a fashionista. Anyone can can look amazing, no matter what the budget is!
They turned out great! I'm glad you didn't have the pockets showing below the hem - I always think it's weird when people wear their cutoffs that way. It looks like they forgot about the pockets when they cut them, and accidentally cut them too short.
You did a great job here! I have a habit of lopsided chopping. It's bad. I have no crafty talent whatsoever. I am still in love with your scalloped blazer. Did your camera get fixed? Or are you using a sub?
Thanks so much for being my first ever commenter :) I think it was fate because as soon as I opened your blog I saw the exact pair of shoes that are supposed to arrive at my doorstep TOMORROW! So excited for them to get here now, they look great with your outfit! I'm also loving that starfish bracelet, so cool!
You have a new follower out of me already :)

Seriously. Perfect way to wear cutoffs! And for $1?!
I can't get into the exposed pockets thing either and those shorts are always sooo short. Levi's are totally the best! There's nothing like classic denim.
Awesome cut offs! I love the way you styled this too <3
You are so beautifully curvy and seem very comfortable with your body. I love and admire it!
i love the hat and blazer!! obsessed. the cut offs look sweet too

me too! i can be suchhh a follower too. now i am craving shorts and wait...yes now i want cutoffs too! you look fantastic in those :)
this is a lovely outfit :) I really like the blazer and shoes. oh, and the dog is adorable! :)
I love those shorts. My daughter is desperate for some - I may give it a go. You are such an inspiration. Thanks.
So cute! Those are very sound rules - esp number 1. Exposed pockets look good on exactly no one (and I always wonder what happens if you want to put something in your pocket? Does it just hang there for everyone to see?)

Did you get your camera back? These pics are excellent!
I know what you mean about jumping on trends because of what other bloggers are doing. I think the cutoff look great on everyone - yours are perfect - but I actually wore them back in the 90s and I think if you wore them once you shouldn't wear them again ;)
This is a look I just can't seem to pull off. I don't know if it's my age, shape, or what? But you've styled these perfectly...the shoes, and scallopped blazer! Too cute! ~Serene
The cutoffs look incredible, but what I really can't get enough of are your SHOES! AMAAAZING!!!

I just cut off a pair of thrifted Levi's last night. They were so comfy that I slept in them! Great minds...

Good DIY cutoffs. I like cutoffs too, but I always end up cutting them too short so they end up in the get rid of pile.
Love how you paired the feminine scalloped blazer with the jean shorts :)

Look at those legs! Woo hoo! I'm glad you followed this bandwagon, because look how cool that outfit is! It's not really something anyone would think you copied, anyway, since cutoffs are classic, I tell ya!
I have just made myself 2 pairs of cutoffs to wear to a festival. I guess I must be under the influence too. Must be the promise of some rare hot and sunny weather in the Uk. I love that blazer it works so well with your cutoffs.

Nicely done !
I don't like them when the pocket show either.
I used to make cutoffs in high school! Ahhhhh memories...
great job with the cutoffs...love how you dressed them up with that amazing blazer...it is one of my faves of yours!
And this is how denim shorts should be done! Your styling is perfection and I am still drooling over those heels, the clutch and the starfish cuff!
This is one of my favorite outfits of yours. It looks so effortlessly chic... Your shorts are the perfect length too, they make your legs go on for days. (Also, I think cut-offs are one of those things that never go out of style.)
I would have never known that your shorts are a diy and for a dollar too. :) I love your starfish bracelet to bits. :) So unique.
Finally, did you get a new camera/ lens? The photos look so crisp. :)

I am a die hard fan of cut offs. I wore them as a teenager and still do. Love the way you classed your shorts up :)
aaww your dog is so fluffy and cute:)!
U look gorgeous hun! The scenery, ur outfit= perfect : )
Love how your cutoffs turned out, they have the perfect amount of fraying! I really adore how you paired them with that scalloped blazer... when my 30 for 30 is over I may have to steal the cutoff/blazer combo because it's such a nice juxtaposition!

cette tenue te vas très bien, et j'adore tes chaussures

You look amazing! I think this is my favorite look so far. That jacket? H&M? Really? I guess it's time for me to go to my nearest H&M and dig around. I hate the one near me, it's super janky. But for this blazer, I will risk it.
xo,
Tracy
I LOVE this outfit, so so so much.
The cutoffs turned out great and I love how you've paired it with your scalloped hem blazer.:D
