Black, Brown, and Navy for Spring

I'm not fully embracing spring style, even though it is technically spring, it is also currently snowing. Much like I'm not going to head out on an 80° September day layered up in sweaters, I'm not going to shiver on a 45° March day for the sake of blogging more spring-like outfits. Sure, I could have lightened things up a bit, but this top and jacket have been hanging together in my closet since December, waiting for a day when a leather jacket was an appropriate outerwear choice.

This color combination gave me a chance to show off how fabulous black, brown, and navy look together. I think the combo is often ignored or even outright avoided, but I love it. I also have a ridiculous amount of love for the Coach Willis Bag. Even though I already have two, when I was searching for one to link to on Etsy, I came across it in white, and I'm practically clicking 'add to cart'. As far as I'm concerned, the design of this bag is simply perfect.

It's funny, when I was in high school I used to think Coach bags were the ugliest things, as the only ones I ever saw were the signature logo bags. It wasn't until I came across this vintage Willis bag in a thrift store that a love of Coach arose, and I discovered that the same company which churned out coated canvas bags peppered in the letter 'C' once made gorgeous leather bags, with such thick, full grain leather, that a lining isn't needed to hide anything. I admit I do like some of Coach's current offerings (logo bags aside) but they still aren't quite as wonderful as the vintage styles.

  1. It's definitely a great color combo when done correctly, and you did that here! Darn this snow! Hopefully it melts quickly.

  4. We're actually finally getting spring weather here so I can't wait to truly bust out my spring looks. Hoping the snow goes away soon where you live. Like you, I wasn't a fan of the Coach bags either. Not really into things that scream logo. But I do really like this bag you found. It's a total winner!

  8. I love your leather jacket and your Coach Willis bag! I never got into designer bags until I saw someone I worked with that had a Coach bag. The rest was history and Coach will always have a place in my heart and the Willis is no exception. I hope you had a great Easter weekend. Happy Monday and wishing you a great week ahead!

  12. After a few weeks of spring-like weather, we are back in a deep freeze here. The most recent outfit photos I've snapped have featured full coats and I've nearly gotten frost bite on my hands just because I've chosen to go without gloves. Suffice it to say, I completely understand - if it's not spring where you are, blogging spring outfits doesn't make sense. Personally, I love black and brown or black and navy in all seasons. It's rare that I paire all three, unless the shade of brown in camel, but you may have inspired me to try it!

  14. Such a great early spring look! We have warm days, we have cool days, I really can't keep up any more. The high today is like 75, and tomorrow it is supposed to be 55. And I agree about that Coach bag - so gorgeous!

  15. This is a great color combo for spring. I remember having similar feelings too, and they were kind of favored by the popular main stream girls who in my opinion had no fashion sense haha. But yes they do make some great bags and check out my posts next week when I shot outside the Coach show here in NY.

  20. I love this combination, you look so chic! Good for you for wearing things that are practical in your weather. I used to wear such ridiculous things for the sake of blogging but I’m no longer about that! It makes no sense. Love the coach bag too :)

  23. I love your navy top, it looks so nice with the black and brown. That does look like a great bag too. My sister has a few Coach bags but I've never owned one yet, I've come close to buying a few times!

Hope you are having a great week so far! It's been a little rainy here but not too cold so I'm still enjoying wearing shorts, haha! Such a strange autumn! Hope you get some warm spring weather soon!
