The date on the tag was the following Monday, meaning that it would become half off in just a couple days, only I wouldn't get out of work early enough to go back for it, so I snapped a photo and asked my mom if she would buy it for me.
Come Monday afternoon she texted me that the blazer was gone. I was a little disappointed, but what can I say, I have one of those 'meant to be' mentalities when it comes to buying things I know I don't need.
Suffice to say I was pleasantly surprised when one of the boxes I opened on Christmas contained the blazer. My mom has always been queen of the gift fake out.

I love this story! This blazer was clearly meant to be yours, which I'm sure your mom saw when she went into the thrift store that day - I have to applaud her gift giving fake out skills! It occurred to me recently that I really don't wear blazers very much. I have one that I love that rarely sees the light of day and, if I'm honest, that might be the only one in my collection. Seeing this one on you, especially with the beautiful fur collar detail, makes me think that I really need to start to get more creative with my blazer styling - and maybe add a second one to my collection!

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun surprise -- and it's a gorgeous blazer! Awesome find. PS: also have those Gap nude lace up flats... LOVE; just wish the quality was better. Are you finding the "leather" material rubbing at the toe?

ReplyDeleteI love this jacket - if you ever want to let is go in the future.. let me know.
What a sneak! I did the same thing with Dave a few years ago. We saw this metal duck bottle opener in an antique store, but left knowing that Small Business Saturday was coming up that weekend and he'd have a credit with his AmEx to use. Well, I went back and purchased it before Saturday. When he wanted to stop by the antique mall that weekend to pick it up, he was so disappointed that it had sold -- to the point where he was crabby the rest of the day!
