The little island off in the distance is called Charles Island. During low tides a sandbar, or tombolo is revealed to allow access by foot from Silver Sands beach in Milford. I have yet to venture there myself, but it is a nature preserve for birds, and open to the public. Also rumored to have been cursed by the pirate Captain Kidd, in addition to being the sight of buried treasure, though nothing was ever uncovered.
I always find it interesting to learn little bits of Connecticut's history and urban legends.

What a gorgeous spot - and too funny it was allegedly cursed by Captain Kidd, I was just watching a documentary about his sad misadventures as a "pirate." On a fashion-related noted, this is the perfect beach look. Simple, casual but super cute. Your plaid shirt is perfect - I'm not a fan of all plaid prints but this one is a gem.
