It becomes hard to remember what I'm buying to fill an actual need (like how I do need a pair of comfortable black flats) and what I think I need because I saw some other blogger wearing/lusting after it and now I've become obsessed with having it too.
Impulse purchases like these chevron crystal earrings from Express and a knockoff J.Crew tortoise flower necklace feel so fun and so right in the moment, but was that really $40 well spent?
I want to try making a list of only things I actually need and then avoiding other purchases. But what about non buyers remorse? Do you think that is worse than buyers remorse?
I'm not sure, but I will tell you my plans for this weekend involve trying to get this leather jacket from the Gap for half off. Because a brown leather jacket falls securely in the need category, right?
Hope at least some of you get to take advantage of the sales this weekend, and if you wouldn't mind, please vote for me in TJMaxx's Maxxininista contest?

These rhinestone necklaces look SO pretty together! I am constantly tempted to buy new clothes thanks to blogging but I try to keep what's already in my wardrobe in mind as well as how many ways I can style a new item.

I'm trying to chill out with shopping until the end of next month and that will be a challenge. I suffer from both! :) You look super cute and chic. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou can wear a hat like nobody else and you look cute. Did you say the jacket was on Sale. . .reason to buy it? YES.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this look!! Perfection!
ReplyDeleteand yea...I have so many problems I am ALWAYS online window shopping but luckily (and sometimes unluckily) I never end up getting anything... *sigh* haha. Thankfully I have a Marshalls gift card burning a hole in my pocket

Nowadays it is almost impossible to shop by needs... I am with you on that!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is awesome! I love the casual basics and the stylish accessories and would instantly wear the entire look.

I tried voting for you but did not know how after I clidked on your link??? I just hate all the coupons and points and marketing that is going on now because marketing counts on us to be robots and gamblers. Robots meaning always shopping at the store where you have the most points and gambelers because you can only rack up points by spending money. It can only get worse so buyer beware has never been more true. Good for you for having us question our shopping habits.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying really hard to think of these different scenarios when I shop lately--do I need this? Do I just want this? Is it something I will wear again and again? Will I love this forever? It is an important part of shopping, I'm learning. I really love your casual look today Lydia!
ReplyDeleteI voted !
ReplyDeleteand i have actually been removing my name from a few mailing lists... maybe that will help ?
Also if you need a pair of black flats i highly recommend: Lavender by Vera Wang or Sam Edelman.
Worth every penny.
Non-buyers remorse... it's the worst! At least if you have true buyers remorse, you can usually return your poorly chosen purchase, but if you miss out on something it's another story. There is a pair of boots that I missed out one when I was visiting London in twelfth grade that still haunt me - sad but true. Shopping purposefully is important, but I think shopping too purposefully can take a bit of the joy out of it - I say that because I think I'm a bit in that place right now; I've lived with a severely limited budget for so long that buying even one thing in a month can really stretch my means. Usually by the time I've made a painstaking choice, well, I'm not sure how much I want it anymore, anyway :P On an outfit-related note, this is perfect. Especially your jeans. I've been on an impossibly long hunt for boyfriend jeans with no success and now I'm planning a trip to Old Navy!

I know exactly how you feel, and I love that you're rockin' the b/f jeans and the hat. Hats for the win!

Love how you pair it! Great leather classic coach with a basic grey and boyfriend denim :)
ReplyDeleteI am going to try "non-buyer's remorse" out on the hubby...lol.
ReplyDeleteEven tho' all of my shopping is at the Goodwill these days, I still have to remind myself that I only have so much closet space, and only so many places to wear my treasures!
Love this relaxed look. I just snagged my second pair of boyfriend jeans...at Goodwill...um, yep.
Oh man... I need some basic black shoes, too, just maybe some slightly heeled loafers, yet I always go for the crazy heels that I wear maybe once a month. WHATEVER MAN. I know that feel.
ReplyDeleteVoted for you! Good lucK, sweetums! <3
Nice look! Ever since the summer I've stopped buying things just because they are on sale or clearance, I'm only buying things I would pay full price for, and I've notice I've been buying less but the things I buy I wear more often, are better quality, and at the end I still think they were great purchases.
ReplyDeleteI'm lusting after that tortoise necklace too and I agree that non-buyers remorse does hit me sometimes too!
ReplyDeletei love your cute shoes -- the snake print on the heel is so unique!
cute & little
I love the classiness of this outfit. Very simple, yet beautiful.

I only have non-buyer's remorse for that pair of Miu Miu spectator pumps that were available years ago. I still haven't found my size on eBay.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this look on you. Those pumps are crazy sexy.
I'm, also, trying to focus on needs and not impulse buys, but the sales are very tempting...
ReplyDeleteThose heels are amazing <3

Such a nice casual outfit! I love the sparkly necklaces :)
ReplyDeleteI have noticed a lot of sales and offers on at the moment too - am deciding to avoid them by trying to re-organise my wardrobe instead, it helps to see that I already have too much!
Away From The Blue
I experience non buyers remorse a lot. It is just as bad as buyers remorse, I think.
ReplyDeleteThis is not normal, right?
You look great. I like how you wore a messy low bun with the fedora...we usually only see hats worn when hair is down .

I can only identify so well with what you are saying, I just buy WAY too much!!! I can't seem to stop myself sometimes thinking that I will feel really bad if I don't get a certain item. Right now I'm trying to not buy anything at all, lets see how long I last! hahaha. I really love this outfit on you btw, you look SO COOL with the hat and the cuffed jeans!
