Flat out

Today I'm taking part in La Petite Pear's Fashionista's in Flats series. Flats are an essential part of my shoe wardrobe, for shopping, for travel, I just can't go all day in heels. Even to work, I like to give my feet a break a couple times a week and throw on a pair of cute ballet flats.

Since I think pairing flats with a pencil skirt is one of the most challenging looks to pull off and not appear short, (because I am short) that is what I'm wearing for this feature.

I hope you will go check it out, and thanks for having me, Sam!

  2. I agree I can't wear heels all day every day. Those flats look so comfortable. I need a new pair myself. Love how you tied your top makes this outfit look super feminine and chic.

  3. I think you pulled off the flats with a pencil skirt perfectly! I agree, it is so hard to wear the two together (luckily I only have 2 pencil skirts...and one is denim so it doesn't count, ha ha)

  4. I don't really ever wear heels (which may explain why I also usually don't wear pencil skirts because, you're right, that's a tricky one) so I love a good flats look - and I think you totally nailed this!

  5. I will never be a flats girl - I can't help it. But I must admit, when it comes to taking dynamic outfit photos, like that brilliant one of you jumping, you can't beat them :) I suppose I'm slowly coming around and maybe when I do, I'll come around to colour, too? I do love the bright yellow shade of the pair you're wearing!

  9. So chic and classy! You pulled off the flats and pencil skirt look so perfectly, it does tend to shorten the legs, but you did it so in style, love the way you knotted the shirt!

  18. I love ballet flats. I keep a pair at my desk and always take a pair with me when I travel for work (like in my purse to trade shows or meetings - because you never know when your feet will start protesting).

The yellow accents are great in your outfit!

  19. Love that plaid button down! And the fact that it's thrifted is amazing! I need to step up my thrifting skills (or lack thereof). This yellow/mustard and navy combo looks fab on you!

    Have a great day!

I wear flats and pencil skirts all the time - a necessity sadly. I think skirts look great with flats and heels! :)

  23. Plaid, plaid, plaid! That plaid shirt makes me really want fall to be here. I love how all your yellow accessories pull out the nearly undetectable yellow shades in your shirt. Pretty look, Lyddie!

  27. This outfit is so great for the end of summer :) The plaid is a really fun one, too.

I like flat but am so tired of them now because they're all I've been wearing. Need this sprain to finish healing!
