Gingham + Sequins

Sequined skirt is a sadly neglected member of my closet. Inspired by this pin, I thought I'd mix it up for a more casual look.

We went to brunch at Yolande's Bistro and Creperie in New Haven; I had to sample both a savory and a sweet crepe, so I tried a tasty mushroom and goat cheese crepe, as well as a dark chocolate and strawberry crepe!

The restaurant is adorable, decorated with bold colored walls and french movie posters in gold gilded frames.

I would definitely go back!

  13. Sequins and crepes. Two of my greatest loves in life! Loved that you tried both savory and sweet. Goat cheese and mushroom is one of my faves.

  14. I'm pretty sure we'd be foodie best friends, Lyddie. Mushroom and goat cheese? Dark chocolate? Yes please! And the place itself sounds lovely.

I'm loving the sequins with your gingham shirt. You find the best combinations, and I don't know how the hell you made that work. It just shouldn't work. But it does here. You're a wizard, Lyddie.

  17. I love sequins, but have so few! Must remedy.

I also love brunch, and crepes. And I am hungry right now. I wonder if there's a crepe place around here that delivers... danger!

  21. For the most part, the French don't really understand breakfast foods - they eat bread, butter and coffee and that's about it. But crepes. They have the market cornered on crepes. Living here, I've actually come to appreciate savoury ones even more than sweet. My favourite combination is goat cheese, walnut and honey - but goat cheese and mushroom sounds fabulous, too! Especially followed by dark chocolate and strawberry :) And I'm loving the way your dressed down your sequin skirt; I've been on the hunt for a gingham shirt for a while now and seeing yours only reinforces how much I want one. You look fabulous!

  25. You pretty much nailed the inspired by look from the pin, specially the top part - and then gave it your own special twist with the skirt.
