My Sister, Chloe and I went for a walk to the center of town, just for the sake of being outside and enjoying the weather.

I think I'm pretty much done with my back of the closet challenge, mostly because when I look at the remaining pieces, I simply have no desire to wear them. Anything my Sister doesn't want will likely go up in the shop.
There are a few exceptions, like my new sequined dress that I want, but don't know when I will have an occasion to wear. And then there is the biggest waste of money ever. A beautiful halter dress from White House Black Market that I bought in 2007 while visiting Baltimore's Inner Harbor. It was on sale, but was still quite expensive ($70 maybe?) and I've worn it exactly once. The dress is very low cut and I look like I've walked out of a Victoria's Secret Catalog. Because it's a halter I can't really layer anything under it. I hate that I haven't worn it.
I still really want some scalloped shorts, and I think I might try and make a pair.
I'm maybe warming up to this red skirt I made the other week. I still think I might get a different fabric and do it over though. Maybe even make it a work appropriate length, haha.
Labor Day may be the unofficial end of summer, but really, there are still two weeks left and I intend on making the most of them!
P.S. Guess who's turning two on Friday?!
Happy early bday to your fur baby! And that necklace is oh so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAw, what a gorgeous darling Chloe! Loving your look, so chic. I went into White House Black Market for the first time this year, I really love the style of their pieces. (:

You're right, there are two more weeks of summer left - I shouldn't be so fatalistic about the end of summer! However, I am excited to pull out some light fall layers. Today I'm going to *gasp* pull out a pair of tights.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep the sequin dress and the halter. I have a few special pieces like that I've worn rarely, but will never get rid of. An occasion will eventually arise!
On the halter, I wonder if there's a way to sew in a little lace inset so it's not quite so racy? Maybe?
Have a great day!
Jessica
your doggy is such a cutie! just feel a need to make friends with him... your outfit is perfect as well - love the pendant, and the skirt so much!
ReplyDeleteI love the outfit!! And what a cute doggy!! :D
ReplyDeleteSad about that expensive dress though :/ I hate when that happens!
http://aclosetfashionista.blogspot.com/
I love your red skirt!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what you mean about the challenge. I have a few things I still haven't worn, and I don't know if I'm ever going to get around to it. It might be better to just get over it and get rid of them.
You could get a pair of shorts from the thrift store and edit them into scalloped shorts (I was going to attempt that, because I don't think I would be able to MAKE shorts. But I can edit them hem!!)
I can't wait to see how they turn out.
love your looks!
ReplyDeletecute necklace. your skirt and your are skirt are so pretty!
love,
Tiffany
I LOVE that skirt.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the very fall palette of your outfit!
ReplyDeleteI totally adore that skirt on you and that dog is soooo cute:)
ReplyDeletehugs and kisses
Chloe looks so cute out and about.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the fancy dresses- I have a few of those that just sit there! I used to have fancy parties to go to but not lately!
Maybe we should just throw our own fancy dress parties?
Thank you!!! =D
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna talk about various subjects : fashion, art, books, movies etc. So, if you want to follow that, you're welcome!! =)
& sure, I'm so excited to move in Paris!! Hope you will follow my little adventure there ;)
xoxo.
i adore your outfit. and that necklace too. xD
ReplyDeleteAWWW!! What breed is your dog? I have a bichon!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the red skirt that you made! And yeah, I agree about halter tops. They're a little harder and more awkward-looking to layer with than tube top dresses. I still own a lot of them, too that I haven't worn in a while.
And oh... haha funny story about your friend you posted as a comment on my blog! Yeah, that has happened to me before :) It's alright to look sexy in some ways (but not slutty)!
what an adorable dog! love that necklace, too!

The jewelry box has such treasures! Woohoo for the lift on the closet challenge (though I know it's frustrating to have items that were never worn or worn once)!
ReplyDeleteThat'd be awesome if you made scallop shorts!
That necklace looks so fun! I love it. :)
ReplyDeletecute outfit! i love your hair all straight :)
ReplyDeletecutest puppy too...I guess he/she has a bday coming up?
Great job on the skirt - it looks fabulous on you!!! I love your outfit too - it looks so casual yet so chic!!!!

I have such a tiny closet, I'm always having to sort through clothing and decided what I really need and will wear and what can be given away. My Sister too is happy to take many items off my hands.
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt you made, the waist band should always be seen it's so cute.
thanks for visiting my guest post! i love your outfits, and your dog is sooo cute (she/he looks like my doggy)

I'm loving the red skirt, that's adorable, and the perfect shade! I hate having things in my wardrobe that I don't wear; I used to work for high end clothes store with a huge staff discount, and I have dress bags in the attic full of dresses that either don't fit anymore or have never been worn...we need to find these dresses good homes :D
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful necklace!
ReplyDeleteYour dog is sooo cute :)
clothed much, a modest fashion blog
Chloe seems sooo happy !

ReplyDeleteyou look so beautiful in this post! Love this outfit, and I love the one below too. So daring but cute, I think I'll have to copy it, just gotta find myself a similar cute leopard skirt!
ReplyDeleteI really want scalloped shorts too! But it seems silly to buy them now...
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks for your comment =D
ReplyDeleteI know there are Asymetrical hemlines.. though mine was just wrong so you get it xD
Have a bizarre day,
Berlin

ReplyDeleteI have a few dresses I've only worn once, and it makes me sad too. Your back of the closet challenge is such a great idea. It's very inspiring. I have so many clothes it's hard not to have soo many things in the back.

You look gorgeous! It's been getting colder here, too - I had to wear a long-sleeved top AND a raincoat today :(
ReplyDelete♥ Leia
i love your outfit!
ReplyDeletegreat outfit. and your doggie is sooo cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI think they would only honor the 1/2 off on the 2nd pair if I buy them at the same time. Darn it. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteps: I am hosting a really cute GIVEAWAY, so please join in:)
ReplyDeleteKisses,darling:)
I am wondering why you are not wearing that necklace everyday, because it's AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteCould you put a short v-neck cardigan/sweater shirt over the halter dress? I've had some luck in similar situations. And congrats on the back of the closet challenge! It's hard to look at those things every day - I know because I have that problem too.
ReplyDeleteLydia!!!:D This is my favorite outfit on you!:D
ReplyDeleteRed makes you glow.:D
