No Shop October

No budget update this month because I haven't made any purchases! I wasn't planning on not shopping this month, but when I realized I'd passed the two week mark without buying anything, I figured I might as well just stick with it.

I also found myself embroiled in a major closet clean out, sending a box of stuff off to Swap.com, filling one of ThredUP's clean out bags, another two garbage bags were donated, and now I'm in the process of listing a few bags on eBay that just haven't been getting the love they deserve. Yet somehow, despite everything that I removed, it still looks like I have zero space! It's like my closet is Mary Poppin's bag, I can't imagine how all that even fit in there. So a little break from shopping feels like a good idea right now, and hopefully one I can continue through the end of the year. With the holidays approaching (yikes) it's always a good idea to cut back on shopping for myself and switch gears to thinking about giving to others.

"I know that happiness can only be found in the present moment."

That was a bit of an unintended blogging break, probably the longest I've taken in the now nine years I've had this blog. Unfortunately life got busy, then it got chaotic, then I came down with a cold, and finally one morning my car wouldn't start because the battery had died. I felt like it was just telling me that my batteries were dead too, and I really needed a break.

While I wish I could say that during the last two weeks of not blogging I was working on all these great posts for you, however, it was not that kind of break. No, it was a binge watch 'The Good Place' kind of break, which if you aren't watching, you totally should be.

In between some crazy warm days, awful humid-but-still-cold days, and quite a bit of rain, we have had some gorgeous fall weather and I'm a little bummed it's practically November and I haven't really shared any fall looks... so fingers crossed for some more 66° and sunny days in the next few weeks!

Saving made simple

This post is sponsored by Wikibuy, but my views and opinions are my own.

It doesn't seem to matter how much I have, I love to shop. I can always find an excuse for a new dress (wedding shower this weekend!) and even more so, I love to get a great deal. I never place an order online without first checking for a coupon code, searching other sites to see if there is a better sale elsewhere, or seeing if I can finagle free shipping. The hunt for a great deal is part of what makes shopping feel fun and rewarding right? So that is why I'm excited to share Wikibuy with you, as it is a site that which is an asset when it comes to making sure a great deal is never missed.

While there are lot of couponing sites out there, what sets Wikibuy apart is their Chrome extension, which will automatically search for and try coupon codes before checking out of a store, in addition to being an amazing tool while shopping on Amazon, as it will search the web for the item to see if it's being sold at a better price (including tax and shipping) anywhere else. Products can also be added to a price drop watch list, so the moment it goes on sale a notification will be sent.

So when I set my heart on this dress at Loft, I'll I had to do was add it to my cart, head to the checkout, and let Wikibuy try all the best coupon codes for me to find the best discount. Codes can also be searched for directly at Wikibuy. If you are a Chrome user doing a lot of shopping online, Wikibuy is definitely worth having around.

"If you’re not making any mistakes or experiencing any setbacks, chances are you’re not doing anything."

It would seem to me that the statement necklace has been replaced by the statement earring, and I probably could have chosen four more pairs I'm loving right now - maybe I should do that next week! While I can sometimes be a challenge to find pairs that are as light weight as they are dazzling, and I can not personally vouch for these, I will mention that Mango offers free shipping and returns, if you feel so inclined to give them a whirl.

J.Crew Twill Winnie Pant, $35
Mango Flower Pendant Earrings, $20
H&M Merino Wool Sweater, $50
Nordstrom Rack Ring Handel Bag, $25
TJMaxx Charles by Charles David Metallic Mules, $50

Sweater Dresses Under $100

One of my favorite things about summer is the ease of simply throwing on a dress and heading out the door. With the arrival of fall comes the necessity for layers, however, with an abundance of adorable and warm sweater dresses, some of which have long sleeves and thus the ability to stand on their own, the transition to fall becomes a bit more fluid.

I don't know about you, but there is something about that first day I pull on my jeans after they've been hanging out in my closet all summer that just feels so constricting. I'm happy to have my growing collection of sweater dresses that I can reach for on the days when I'm just not ready for denim.

I've looked at my own personal favorites and also pulled a lot of fun new styles for this season and rounded up over 25 sweater dresses, all for less than $100 (okay, I could only find one leopard print dress and it's $140, but it's cashmere and still a really good deal) so I hope you find one you love!

Spring into fall

"I know that everything I need will find me when the time is right."

Fall seems to be settling in, the sharp cold air bookending the days, and I was happy to still be able to wear this cherry blossom print blouse on it's own before things get too cold. Even though cherry blossoms are synonymous with the springtime, this top made it's way into a fall collection, and it was too lovely to hold it for six months. Of course I look forward to when I can wear it with my beloved flowering trees in the background, but I need to anticipate enjoying the seasons directly ahead and not wish them away to get to the spring again.
