The Anti-Blogger

How I bemoan the arrival of September. The shift in temperatures already evident, the unmistakable chill in the air, which if I were a proper blogger would send me into a frenzy, pulling out sweaters and boots (didn't I just pack those away a few weeks ago?!) and fur vests! Yes, I can forgive booties with a dress or lightweight sweaters, but fur vests in August? Don't lie to me, you've got to be overheating in that!

I know I should just learn to appreciate the arrival of fall, rather than fighting it tooth and nail, as if there is a thing in the world I could do to change it. There is always just this feeling of failure; I go into the summer with all these expectations, and the next thing I know it's Labor Day Weekend and it's as if the rug has been pulled out from beneath me. And it wasn't even this rug, it was some other, less pretty rug.

I wore this outfit on a wet and chilly day a couple weeks ago. I wore it to work and then out with Meg, with the shoulders pulled up while I was at work. Normally I would have changed into heels, but the slides felt more practical in the inclement weather, and my hair is up for the first time in ages because it does not matter how long I spend straightening it in the morning, if it's humid out, I will have nothing less than a frizz ball by midday. As I mentioned yesterday, I've been loving this square silk scarf from Loft. It's only $7 right now, and is the perfect length to tie around your neck or handbag, so I'd definitely recommend it.

  1. I was just telling Rachel....I hope one of these days I will enjoy the present season for what it is instead of wishing for something else...ha ha! I do love each season for it's distinctness but I also don't miss being cold!!

  2. Fur vests in August? That's just ridiculous. Much like it's ridiculous that stores are already displaying Halloween merchandise. I admit, I did wear a sweater for the first time yesterday, but only out of necessity - I was sitting on a patio with a friend in the evening, and it got genuinely cold! The chill has been slowly creeping into the air here and although I love fall clothes as much as anyone, I am not at all enthused about colder weather. Or about putting all of my beloved open-toed shoes away for the next eight months :( I just got a lovely pair of slides that I've barely had a chance to wear! But I suppose there's always next year...

  3. I am definitely guilty of cardigans, but not fur vests! And in my defense it's been in the 50s most mornings! But I totally understand what you mean. Fur vests are not on my mind to wear until October probably. Love your classic stripes and pretty scarf!

  4. I think if you move to a warmer place, well maybe you can have longer summers :)
In my case, every year when rainy season begins I tell myself I will be planting all of these trees, flowers, veggies... and then rainy season goes by and I've planted nothing.

  5. I have seen SO MANY straight up Fall outfits on IG and I'm wondering how these women aren't dripping with sweat! I have been some cardis though (with shorts)! I am loving your neck scarf and top together!

  7. This was such a cute look! I loved the scarf tied on your neck. Sadly I don't have one small enough and I know I wouldn't wear it enough to justify buying one, haha

  9. That is a beautiful top - I like that you can wear it with the shoulders up or down. Your scarf is a nice touch of colour and a little bit of print mixing too! :)

I prefer warm weather over cold weather outfit wise, but usually by the time autumn rolls around I'm ready for a change of pace and a little layering! Right now it's so cold in the mornings and so spring and sometimes even summer like in the afternoons. For a 20 degree difference I have no idea how to dress, haha!

I'm getting so many comments lately on my winter outfits with people talking about fall - I think they think I'm one of those crazy bloggers who layers up in the heat. There's no way I could do that! I like the warmer months, but I don't like over dressing and melting!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend :)
