Nostalgia

I recently spent way to much time looking through the archives of my blog. Eight years is a lot of outfits, some wonderful, some a bit less so. I kind of miss the days when I'd just run out to my driveway and snap photos with the tripod. Now I feel like I want my photos to be more reflective of life whenever possible, which means carrying the camera and often getting a somewhat reluctant photographer to stop what we are doing for the sake of photos. I hate it when outfit photos feel like a burden. There is something to be said for my tripod days.

I also happened to remember this polka dot blouse, which I don't think I've worn since 2012, and if I were anyone else, it would have been long gone, but I'm terrible with the follow through of dontaing items that end up in my donate pile, so I went to my parents house, dug around a bit, and sure enough, there was the blouse. Ready for round two.

  2. This is such a beautiful blouse, it's great that you didn't get rid of it because I can tell it's going to have a whole second life in your wardrobe now! It's funny how much blogging and our perception of our photos has changed. Just this week, I changed to a more sophisticated editing program and it makes the photos we take look so much better, but - and there is a big but - it doesn't seem to carry the edits over to every program, so it's been nothing but confusion and frustration and a lot of time spent reflecting on why I now think every shot we take needs to be perfect when we used to just run out to snap a few photos in our back lane. I haven't come to any conclusions just yet :P

  3. Yep, I know what you mean! That's exactly why I didn't have any outfit photos from my New York visit. I didn't want to take the time (5 minutes) to make us stop and take photos.
Loving this outfit, the jeans are perfection!

  4. I am sometimes surprised at the amount of outfit pictures that I have accumulated and like you say many looks are just blah - however its part of the process.
How good that you found this polka dot shirt from the archives.. had it been me maybe I would have already parted with it.
AND your pictures only keep getting better ;)

  14. Blogging has certainly gotten to be more a full-time job these days and it sucks when it feels like a chore. It's nice to have those moments when it feels like "the old days." Also, I love finding a tried and true piece like your beautiful blouse I can bust out again and it's just as pretty as the day I bought it!
