Haven't got the time

I always have running lists of little projects I need to get done in my head; organize my jewelry, clean out the fridge, hem a dress, and so on. If I should be so lucky to have a Saturday sprawled out in front of me, I will seemingly forget everything on that list.

When do I remember I want to clean out the fridge? Eight A.M. on a Monday morning when I've got to be out the door in less than half an hour. How many times have I found myself hemming a dress hours before I want to wear it for an event, or end up in the throes of jewelry drawer clean out when I'm already running late because of a missing earring?

I can never seem to get the sliding scales of time to be in my favor, and I often wonder if I could, would I be living a different, better, happier life?

Furthermore, how is it that whenever I walk into a store with no time to shop that suddenly I'm in love with everything I see?

  1. I think this is the way life goes - particularly when it comes to cleaning out the fridge, because there is really never a good time to do it but it is one of life's unfortunate necessities. As adults, we become more and more keenly aware of how the days speed by, and I honestly think part of the problem is work; work hours stretch out endlessly but hours for life things are short and fleeting. And I have to say, I experience something similar when shopping without having money to buy anything - suddenly, I find everything I've been searching for!

  2. Well, I have to admit I am organised. Organised in my very own disorganised way ;)
I know where everything is, even if it means going under the bed to get an earring I know I dropped there 2 days ago. I still know where it is.
When it comes to clothing I am a little better, for example if I buy something and it needs altering I'll take it to the tailor right away or when I have a wedding and the gown needs to be taken to the cleaners I do that right a way too..
But my fridge needs cleaning right now, the jewelry drawers do need some organisation and I am pretty sure something needs to be hemmed... it's not heart surgery so I'll take it as it comes.

And yea...I'm the same way. When I have a TON of time I never want to do anything productive, haha.

  4. As much as I'd like to think I'm organized, I'm not really. Sometimes I feel my mess makes more creative. Crazy, I know...

  6. I love this outfit- that skirt + purse are classics. And haha, yes- my to-do list is also never-ending, and I always seem to get caught doing the thing I needed to do RIGHT before my event/the deadline.

  9. It's hard to accomplish everything on a to-do list, especially when everything seems to be a priority. That's why I always choose at most 3 things I want to accomplish in the day. That way, I'm not staring at an intimidatingly long list of tasks, but the a short list of the 3 most important things I need to do. Hope that helps. :]

  12. Ha, I can SO relate to this. I always say I'm going to steam out wrinkles in my clothes when I put them away (instead of the morning of...) and I always am more ambitious with my to-do list when I'm making it. Then when I have free time that's the last thing I want to do. I tried making a "Power Hour" list (from Gretchen Rubin's Happier podcast) of the things that have no time constraint that need done and devote an hour once a week to tackling that list. It's a great concept, but not one I've followed through on!
