San Diego

We've come to the end of the California photos, with our last stop in San Diego. By far the most mellow of the cities we visited, we stayed in another Airbnb which was walking distance from the Seaport Village, which reminded me a lot of Mystic Seaport.

We drove to La Jolla and visited Seal Beach, it was crazy how close you could get to them, if you were daring enough, and we got to see the cutest baby seals! We also went to Coronado to see the famous hotel, walked along the beaches, got our toes wet for the first time during the trip.

If I could do it all over again, knowing what I know now, I probably would. After the first few days of carrying my camera around I grew very tired of it, hence only having seven sets of outfit photos for a 14 day trip. I wish I'd known about June Gloom, I would have packed more jeans and left my beach towels at home! Also would have been nice to have known my sister wasn't old enough to drive the rental car, 800 miles was a lot for me. I only had one really big melt down (maybe two?) which is pretty good considering how much I dislike driving. At least the car had a backup camera, which was probably more a blessing for my sister since I didn't have to make her get out of the car every time I needed to parallel park - and that was a lot!

I'm also sad I didn't get a chance to meet Alice or Carrie, but who knows, maybe next time?

  6. The print of that skort is perfect for a CA trip, I love it! That IS a lot of driving--I don't like to drive either, so I feel for you there! I think you did a great job with outfit photos--7 photo sets from the trip is pretty great I think!

  9. Seal Beach is one of the few things I remember from being in San Diego 20 years ago. I remember it smelling funny and the seals being RIGHT there. This outfit is so California. I have always loved this skirt on you. I really like how you brought out the color of the leaves with the top.

  12. Oh my gosh, the seals are so close! And they are adorable. 800 miles is a ton of driving, I'm impressed that you managed to do it - I probably would have had a meltdown an hour in your position. And I completely understand your thoughts on carrying a camera, if I'm not travelling with Ian, I always wind up leaving mine in the hotel room halfway through the trip because it just gets way too heavy after a while.
