Left behind

I own a good deal of coats. It isn't unusual for me to acquire two coats each year, and naturally I struggle with letting any go, so I've amassed quite a collection. Unfortunately what is being passed off as a coat closet in my apartment is incapable of housing my coat wardrobe so much of my outerwear remained at my parents house this winter, including this cream colored Zara coat I thrifted back in 2010.

When I was over the other day I saw it looking dejected in my parents closet, so I swapped it for the coat I'd arrived in, and I'll undoubtedly get some more wear out of it this spring, as the chill in the air is still holding on strong.

  5. I think coats are one of the hardest things to purge....they are usually great for so many years, and yet they take up so much space!

  7. Beautiful coat - I am wondering how much storage you're still taking up at your folks' place ? (Note I am not one to point a finger, as after having moved out over 10 years ago I still had a few things back home)

  18. Haha sometimes I've done the same thing, left and forgotten clothes at my parents. Glad to see you picked that coat back up! It's amazing, especially for the transition from winter.

  19. I love the coat, and it was totally worth the swap out I think! Your coat collection sounds really impressive--I only have a couple of coats, it's something I don't buy myself often. I don't know why, I wear the heck out of the coats I own!

  22. It's sad but a bit telling of the lives our generation will live, I think, that even when we move out, we have to leave so much of ourselves at our parents' homes because we will never have the space for it. I hope that some day we all have the closets of our dreams but for now, like you, I store a lot of things at my parents' place and sadly, don't have regular access to the pieces I've left behind. How wonderful to be able to swap out the coat you came with for another one! And this one is a gem, the colour is perfect for spring.
