Beat the blues

It seems to have become an odd occurrence to see me in a pair of tights this winter. I've found myself in a bit of a denim rut, and even as the winter is starting to reach it's end, I can't seem to get out of it.

As a dress devote, it seems strange to have abandoned them these past few months, reaching instead for the dependable blue jean. I know come summer my denim collection will once again find itself on the back burner, but it just felt like such a waste to be nearing then end of winter having only worn this sweater dress on one other occasion.

I'd forgotten how good it felt to be the woman wearing a dress in a sea of denim.

  1. I am a dress devotee too, but sometimes it is just too cold. You look amazing in this dress/boot/tight combo. Loving the coat over your shoulders and the hat.

  15. It's funny, but now that you mention it I realise I've only worn tights once on my blog this winter. I think maybe it's one way we unconsciously follow trends - this season is more about pants than skirts and so, without realising it, we're going along. I know I've been wearing a lot more denim, and there does seem to be a long of exciting things going on with jeans (although I'm working in the office this week and I've worn my tights every day!) With that said, it's fun to see the tights come out once in a while and I love how they look with your boots and sweater dress. Although I'm sure you were a little colder than if you'd worn jeans, you look very cozy in this outfit :)

  16. You truly stand out! I don't own a single pair of jeans so I understand standing out in a sea of leggings and jeans. Dresses seem so much more comfortable as well. And I absolutely love the color of that coat--navy is such a classic color, and always looks wonderful on you.

  18. I am with you on allll of this--I so easily and frequently find myself in a boring routine of jeans, and then feel so good again when I take the plunge back into dresses and skirts. LOVE this whole look--so cozy chic!

  20. That is a great sweater dress! It looks really cozy and warm--worth sacrificing the jeans for. I find myself wearing more pants and jeans during the winter too, I don't know why it feels like such an effort to put on a pair of tights!

  21. I'm so glad you chose to wear this dress again - it looks so cosy and comfy but also incredibly stylish! :)

I try wear my dresses and skirts year round but I do spend most of my time in winter wearing jeans - some days are just too cold for tights, and it's easy to get into a denim rut. but as you've shared here dresses can still look incredibly stylish all layered up :)
