Just a matter of maritime

Despite living walking distance from the water, I couldn't tell you the last time I was on a boat. I've said for years that I want to learn how to sail, but I've never seriously pursued it. Perhaps most of my dreams about sailing are fed by images like this which feed more into my sartorial dreams than anything else, but still I want to sail. Maybe next summer.

  1. Well this provides a great photo backdrop if nothing else! I imagine it is very hard to learn to sail. I love the striped bottom of your dress.

  2. I'm terrified of water and boats, especially the ocean and boats on it, so I completely understand why anyone might never have pursued learning to sail ;) I actually had an opportunity to go sailing this summer, and I really thought I was going to conquer my fear - but at the last minute I backed out. Regardless, the maritime background in so many of your summer photos always looks so picturesque and lovely to me, and this nautical dress was absolutely meant to be shown with it. Plus, Chloe makes any outfit for me :)

  4. I'm not a huge boat fan, but I would personally like to do a cruise, haha (a Disney cruise)
I think I was on a boat a couple years ago in Rhode Island...unless we didn't do a boat tour, but we usually do. XD

  13. I agree that it does make for a great photo spot (and a clever title I might add!). In college my best friend and I joined sailing club to learn how to sail (on a lake of course... #landlocked) but we never did stick around in the club long enough to learn anything. So I'm a sail school dropout I guess!

  17. Pretty dress and always love seeing you with your great nautical accessories. I wish I could learn to love sailing more but my body can't handle the motion and get seasick too quickly.

  21. You look beautiful. I love the stripes.

I would love to know how to sail and have dreamed about it for years but honestly I am kind of scared of it. If you do give it a try please let me know how it goes. Maybe you will be able to ease my fears.

  22. Very pretty Lydia.
Well, at least you have the wardrobe to assist the sailing competition after parties !

  23. You're so close to water which means at least then you don't have to think too hard about planning a trip. I'm surprised you don't know how to sail! I always assumed by the way you dressed you were secretly a salty sailor... but I guess that shows how much I know. ;)

  24. Put it on your bucket list next summer! I suspect sailing is a lot of work, but that's why the man is around to take care of the more difficult tasks while you sip champagne in a striped outfit!
