Back again

Rocksbox invited me to another three month trial of their jewelry rental service, so I'm back with another ribbon wrapped box and three more pieces.

I like that Rocksbox now offers a wishlist feature, which allows you to 'heart' pieces you'd like to receive in future boxes and still keeps your style profile in mind.

For this box I received a delicate pavé triangle necklace by Sophie Harper ($36), a gold Gorjana ring ($36), and an arrow bracelet by Jules Smith ($30).

All of the pieces were a perfect match to my style profile, however I found the ring was too long to wear comfortably, on even my longest finger, and the arrow cuff bracelet unfortunately broke when I took it off after the first time I wore it. While this box is going back, I've added some pieces to my wishlist, and I'm looking forward to my next set.

Patiently waiting

I hope you aren't tired of seeing all my winter coats yet, because they aren't going anywhere. We had another snow storm on Saturday, which lasted all day long, though true to spring snow form, completely vanished 24 hours later.

We just can't shake the cold, and that day, weeks ago, when it was 60° out seems like a dream. However, I'm still trying to transition, be it bare legs with my over the knee boots, (and fleece trouser socks) ankle length pants, layered up pastels, or a pair of pumps with my jeans, I'm trying.

I'm hopeful spring will arrive, though I would not be surprised if this is just one of those years when we jump from winter right into summer, skipping spring entirely.

Oui Oui

I love personalized jewelry, so when PersJewel invited me to review one of their pieces, of course I said yes.

PersJewel has a wide variety of name necklaces in all sorts of fonts and styles, along with bracelets, earrings, rings, and options for both sterling sliver and gold plated pieces.

I decided to choose the gold plated necklace with Swarovski stone accent. Taking a cue from the cute word necklaces Kate Spade is currently offering and the Dior 'Oui Ring' I've long admired, I had a 'oui' necklace created.

The necklace did not take too long to ship and arrive at my door, though unfortunately the crystal became dislodged during the journey. While a bit disappointing, I know these things happen and my trusty bottle of 'Mighty Gemit' set things right in no time at all.

Other than needing to reattach the crystal, I'm quite pleased with the necklace. The possibilities for name necklaces are so much more than just your name, and I appreciated the wide array of options and creative freedom PersJewel offered. I was also able to specify a chain length, and chose the shortest option so that this necklace becomes something I can easily wear with others - and I will certainly be wearing it often!

Hats and bad hair days

You know when you see magazine photos of women with this insanely sexy, perfectly messy hair? That is not real. They did not wake up like that, and no one ever has or ever will. (If you do, keep your mouth shut. I don't need to hear about your perfect hair when I spend so much of my life strategically coaxing mine into something I'm confident leaving the house with.)

This was a day when I left the house without running a flat iron over my hair and though it looked okay, until I realized I did not like how it looked at all. Thankfully this hat was in the car to save the day and the outfit photos.

Simple black and white

It would appear that I have been living in these black jeans. I suppose that goes beyond appearances; I have been living in these black jeans.

They've been my savior these past few weeks. I love paring them with lots of black and white and feeling vaguely Parisian and a bit nautical. My go-to splash of color for an otherwise black and white look is often a red lip.
Jeans are always such a trial, and while I realize different brands and cuts work for different people, I'm so happy to have discovered that Old Navy's Rockstar jeans, in the short length, are perfection on me. They don't stretch out after hours, or even days of wear, and can be had quite cheaply if you pick them up on sale. As far as how well they hold up, the last pair I got is nearly a year old and going strong.

Chambray and Plaid

Hopefully soon I will be introducing more color back into my wardrobe, and transitioning my workwear from jeans, boots, and a sweater into what I feel more comfortable in, skirts, dresses, blazers, and heels.

This outfit was a good start, though I must confess that I wore boots to work, and it was only as I was leaving in the afternoon that it had subsequently warmed up enough for me to throw on heels for photos and my errands.

Sprung?

True to form, this New England weather has been all over the place. Just when it seemed like it might actually start to feel like spring, we got another douse of snow. But as an official spring snow, almost as soon as it stopped, it started to melt and it's as if it never happened. Which isn't to say that all the snow is gone, just the most recent.

It seems like our record colds are going to be following us around for a bit longer, and the roaring winds of March are still going strong, which has been making for some interesting hair photos.

Rather than post my outfits in proper sequential order, I felt like getting these snowy ones, and all my boring discussion of the weather out of the way. It's hard not to talk about it, because I'm out in it, it is directly affecting what I'm wearing, and how much faking is involved in my smile. Here, no faking involved. It was snowing, but it was actually pretty warm.

I was wondering, does anyone know of a style blogger who is also a meteorologist? Because that would actually be pretty interesting.
