A new time

Today marked the start of Daylight Savings Time, the archaic practice of pushing back the clocks so that the sun sets an hour earlier and there is absolutely no hope of taking an outfit photo when I get home from work at 6 pm.

Last winter I worked around this problem by planning out the weeks outfits and photographing them ahead of time. I may end up doing that again, or, rather than plan ahead, recreate and post at a delay.

So, this is actually what I wore today. The rest of my posts this week will be what I wore last week, in whatever random order I feel like posting them in.

Stripes and gingham Stripes and gingham
This is a new bauble from Poshlocket, the Monica Ring. I fell in love with it because it is big and bold and mixes silver and gold. I am a fan of mixing metallics, and having a piece that already incorporates both just makes it easier to carry through with the rest of the accessories.

Hence the turquoise bracelet that features gold and the watch in silver, together harmoniously on my opposite wrist.

  1. That is the perfect gingham shirt ever, if I could only make myself buy it, next time I get paid I will. =D Great outfit Lyddie, time change totally sucks, it feels like the days go by slower and you're right it gets dark pretty fast.

Grr, now I really have to wake up on time in order to take pictures before I go to college. And it's so cold in the mornings.

  9. Oh hello J. Crew! You look stunning in these classics! I am a metalmixaphob. You are a great inspiration to get my butt in gear though! Daylight savings is such a bummer! Somehow, the extra hour of sleep doesn't quite make up for it in the long run!

Me and daylight savings: not friends, ugh. I always end up feeling trapped by mid-winter because it's dark so early.

  35. I have a gingham shirt just like this that I thrifted and it's become my favorite thing in my closet. Love the way colors pop when I pair it with this shirt.

On another note, kudos for you taking outfit pics in advance. I've learned that the best way for me to be a good blogger is to report things after the fact.

  36. Why you so good at clothes? And why you so good at photography? You are awesome!

Yuck at daylight savings time. Bah. Luckily, both of my jobs have me working odd hours, so I usually have at least a few hours of daylight everyday to get my photos in. I'm sure I'll be doing what you do if I ever get a real job.

  37. I love this outfit. And you're totally killing it with the accessories.

Did you venture into town for photos? Also, yeah. Full dark at 5pm. Terrible. First attempt at serious flash photography = dismal failure.

  38. Love that bag and shirt together! And I have outfit photo issues in the afternoon too. Good thing we plan around it for those much needed blog posts. I mean- what are they thinking messing with our pic time?
