Love like a sunset pt. 2

I wanted there to be a gorgeous pink sunset behind me, but it turned out to be one of those overcast evenings when the sun simply disappears without any brilliant fanfare.

I guess instead of having an outfit to match the sunset, my outfit will just have to be the sunset. And oh, these early sunsets are killing me! Dark by 4:30... I wanna cry.

Over the weekend I went to the movies... twice. I haven't been in months so of course I end up going two nights in a row. First for the obligatory viewing of Breaking Dawn, which I enjoyed as much as one can enjoy a Twilight movie - I dig their soundtracks and their eye candy and have been a devoted fan of vampire love stories since my Buffy days, so I go. I laugh, I have a good time.

The other movie I saw was In Time, which I enjoyed, even if Matt Bomer's role was regrettably small and Vincent Kartheiser's wasn't. I just can not like that guy - I hated him on Angel, and I can't stand him on Mad Men... But overall I enjoyed the concept of the movie and the Bonnie and Clyde/Robbin Hood motifs with the sci-fi backdrop.

  1. I love this sunset-inspired coral/orange and pink! (Sorry the actual sunset didn't cooperate for the photo op!)
I'm sure my sister and I will go see the new Twilight movie when we're home together for Thanksgiving this weekend. I do confess to having read the books, but it was mostly for chuckles and to find out what all the fuss was about!
Ps. I got the dog-shaped ring dish at Anthro. The giraffe one sounds darling!

  5. So jealous of your pink pants - I bought them and they looked ridiculous on me (the crotch was crazy wacky).

And I hate Pete on Mad Men too, but you have to admit Vincent Kartheiser plays him oh so very well.

  6. Don't worry about the sunset - your outfit makes up for it. Love the pretty print and the pants too

  7. I want your locateshunz. Sunset or not, it's fantastic. We don't have those bomb ass rocks like you have.

And I don't have those bomb ass pink pants like you have, either, and I'm kind of upset about that fact.

I went to the first Twilight movie just for the lulz. I should catch up and a watch the other movies. I need more laughter in my life.

  10. Love the color of your pants. So gorgeous!

Poor Connor, he was so annoying on 'Angel'. I'm not sure if it was Vincent or Connor that I disliked, though he was really the only character on 'Angel' I never really liked.

And despite my love of 'Buffy', and vampire stories in general, I've never been able to get behind 'Twilight'.

    Have an awesome day!

  15. I want pink pants, too. Awesome choice of shoes! They really make a statement.

And I think I prefer the overcast the overcast sunset here because it allows the colors of your outfit to really stand out. Although I do with there would be brilliant sunsets all the time. And that they wouldn't happen until 9 pm.

  21. I didn't think anyone could pull off that shade of pink so well, but I stand corrected! Just a really happy, vibrant color combo.

Glad to hear you're able to get some enjoyment out of Twilight still, because this former Buffy fan couldn't even get into snarking on anything past the first movie.

PS. I've been wanting to see In Time but after reading terrible reviews I hesitated. However, I trust your judgement more so than the critics :)

  29. my goodness i love your pants! This whole outfit is pretty darn rad. You always combine colors so well. I've heard some good things about Breaking Dawn but no one wants to go with me so I'll have to wait for the video to come out...so maybe by next year I will have seen it.

  32. Oh that's too bad! Happens to me all the time, I'm always waiting for the perfect sunset or the perfect lighting but it's so rare, especially in winter. But your outfit totally makes up for it, so vibrant and gosh the color of your pants is amazing!

  33. I'm in love with these pants, I pretty much want to marry them. Sorry you didn't get the sunset you were looking for but at least your rocky background has a pinkish tinge. (It is makes you feel better we've had nearly 3 straight days of rain, almost no point in playing dress up.)

  34. ok so seeing you wear these pants makes me REALLY want to rock my pink thrifted ones now! thanks for the inspiration; you look great and i love the shoes with the outfit. brings out the color in your blouse.

  36. Sunset colours are so flattering! More people should wear them. :) The paisley pattern is one of my faves too... It's great that you accessorized with black, so subtle.

  38. I am loving your shoes!! This outfit is a perfect color combination.
I am also very sad by the early sunsets everyday. I feel like I won't see the sun again until May!

  39. Oooooh the show Angel - one of my old faves! Cordelia was always my favorite character - I was really upset when they put Cordelia and Connor together (albeit briefly) on the show!
That aside, you look fantastic in those cropped trousers!

  40. Cute outfit. I like your bracelet a lot. I totally agree about the sun being up at 4:29 and gone by 4:30. I hate it.
My sister and I just NetFlixed the Twilight movies.

  41. Those pink pants look fantastic with the black blazer! Very polished, but still fun! Glad to see Breaking Dawn was entertaining... I'm semi-tempted to go see it just because I heard that birth scene was so bizarre. Perhaps I'll wait to rent it.

  42. LOVE the pink and red, once again! I'm looking forward to seeing "In Time"...I didn't know Vincent Kartheiser was on Angel! I used to hate his character on Mad Men, but now he's actually one of my favorites. I don't know how it happened, but I just can't get enough of Pete ;)
