Yellow Week

Icicles cover every single building in sight, and when I look at them I have to fight this desire to pluck them off and take them in and keep them in my freezer. The big ones, the small ones - even though they are so pretty adorning the eaves.
Typical, isn't it? My desire to gather up all the shiny pretty things I can and store them away just for myself.

Today it was "warm" and sunny, a balmy 37°. This caused a bit of a melt, and every so often I'd hear the horrific crash of icicles falling on to pavement.

Didn't make it any better for me, out taking photos however. I was just as cold as usual. And I'm growing weary of battling the bitterness.

I was feeling very uninspired when it came to outfit selection this week. I was wondering if I could get away with throwing a cardigan and snow boots over the sail boat pjs and just wearing that to work all week.

Since themes always seem to help, I decided to just mandate one: Yellow. Partly because I've found myself bemoaning the fact that I don't have a yellow skirt or a yellow cardigan, and it seemed like a good way to show myself I do not need any more yellow in my closet.

  3. That cape is fierce! And you shop at TJ Maxx...I like looking through their purses, socks, shoes, and underwear, but when it comes to their racks and racks of clothes, I just can't do it. How do you get through all those clothes and find a gem? You must have a lot of patience! I wish I had some, cause I'm sure there are good finds.

  4. That cape is awesome! I love it with your yellow shoes and grey tights! Grey and yellow are so awesome together, I forgot about that great combo. :D :D

&& yes, I am a dictatorship, you are quite smart for knowing that hmmm, 'specially as a brainwashed citizen. A very impressive woman you are.

  5. Love the cape, especially with the yellow accents. Very cheerful, as everyone else has pointed out!
I'm definitely dealing with the doldrums of winter right now. I want to eat everything in sight and bury my head under the blankets and not come out until April. Late April.

And yes! (in response to your comments on my blog...) No.1: I definitely think I'm going to have to go ahead and get the 50mm and No. 2: younger sisters should NOT be allowed to get older. I'm definitely feeling my age whenever my little sister and I talk about music, fashion, movies, etc. I'm getting to be old!

  6. Oh the yellow hits just the right note with the cape as contrast. I love it.

I am pretty sure you HAVE to post a picture of your dog now, though. No excuses.

  8. What a gorgeous cape! I love your bits of yellow showing. Does this mean you'll be wearing yellow everyday? I'm not sure I can everyday, but I'll try to get in some next week :)

And yea...today my dad and brothers pushed all the snow off the roof, most of the icicles died today :(

Yellow is such a great perk up color for winter. And I adore the vintage purse with the beautiful cape.

  12. The yellow adds such a pretty splash of colour! Is it dangerous walking under those icicles when it's slightly warmer weather? I'd hate to be hit by one! But they are so, so lovely.

  18. I love the yellow checked shirt peeking out of the cape! Great contrast. I don't have much yellow in my closet but there IS a yellow skirt that I bought last month at a thrift store and haven't gotten around to wearing...I promise to post an outfit soon!! Thanks for the inspiration :)

  23. Maybe you were a magpie in another life? (They're the ones that collect pretty, shiny things, right?) I don't have any icicles, just water that drips on my head all the time, it's like a curse (seriously) every time I leave a building a big plop of water will fall on my head.
I'll wear yellow with you! In fact, I already have a queued post of something yellow but I'll do it again this week. I think grey is my favorite color to wear with yellow :) I love the peek of cuffs out of that cape! And that is a seriously cool cape, I love the shape!
